| First use | DND-004, D&D Classes (S653): la-se-de-li se-de |
Composition
se (perception/sense) + de (decrease/reduction) + li (social agent). Head: li (agent-type). Modifier: se-de (perception-decrease) = one who reduces their own perceptibility. Right-branching: se-(de-li) = perception-kind-of-decrease-person. Key distinction from si-de (W098, misinformation = signal-decrease): se-de is evasion of detection (reducing others' ability to perceive you); si-de is degradation of the signal itself.
Notes
W207. First attested DND-004 (S653). D&D Classes batch. The rogue's defining activity: making themselves unperceptible. Contrast si-de (W098, misinformation): si-de degrades the signal; se-de evades the detector. A rogue who deceives (disinformation tactics) uses si-de; a rogue who hides uses se-de. se-de-li collapses both rogue subtypes (assassin/thief) into the stealth frame, as hiding is the base class feature. Cross-class: distinct from zo-ki-li (W212, ranger) who also moves through the world unseen — the ranger's defining compound is motion through living environments, not perception-evasion.
